Pursuant to provisions of the laws of the State of Louisiana and particularly Title 30 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 as amended, provisions of Statewide Order 29-M (LAC 43:XVII, Subpart 3), and provisions of Statewide Order No. 29-M-3 (LAC 43:XVII, Subpart 5), notice is hereby given that the Commissioner of Conservation has prepared two Draft Permits (Orders) for the applications and that the Commissioner of Conservation will conduct a public hearing to solicit comments on the Draft Permits. The hearing will be held in the Delcambre Shrimp Festival Building, 319 E Main St, Delcambre, LA 70528 at 6:00 pm on September 15, 2025.
At such hearing, the commissioner or his designated representative will give any interested person the opportunity to present testimony, facts, or oral or written comments relative to the two Draft Permits prepared in response to an application by:

On March 4, 2024, Jefferson Island Storage and Hub, L.L.C. (JISH) submitted an application to Conservation for approval to drill two Class III Solution-Mining wells, and to convert the Class III wells to Class II Hydrocarbon Storage wells. JISH published a Notice of Intent to file an application in the The Advocate, and The Daily Iberian, on February 1, 2024. The same public notice of intent was published in the Abbeville Meridional, on February 2, 2024. The location of this permit is at the JISH facility at the Jefferson Island salt dome located in located in Section 00, Township 12 South, Range 5 East, Iberia Parish, Louisiana. The proposed wells will be identified as Jeff Island S&H LLC SL 14638 Well No. 003 and Jeff Island S&H LLC SL 14638 Well No. 004. Solution mining is proposed to occur initially at an approximate depth of 7,000 feet below ground level. The base of the lowermost underground source of drinking water (USDW) at this location occurs at an approximate depth of 650 feet BGL.

The Draft Permit and fact sheet are available for inspection between 8:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday in the Injection & Mining Division Office, Rm. 817, of the LaSalle Building, 617 North 3rd Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. The Draft Permit and fact sheet are also available for inspection at the following locations: Vermillion Parish Library, Delcambre Branch, 206 W Main St., Delcambre, LA 70528. Vermillion Parish Clerk of Court, 100 North State Street, Suite 101, Abbeville, LA 70510. Iberia Parish Library, Main Branch, 445 E. Main Street, New Iberia, LA 70560. Iberia Parish Government, 300 Iberia Street, Suite 400, New Iberia, LA 70560. In addition, the application package is available on the Louisiana Department of Energy and Natural Resources, Injection & Mining Division website.
Interested parties may also submit written comments at any time prior to or during the public hearing. Written comments concerning the application must be received by the Office of Conservation no later than 4:30 P.M., September 16th, 2025.
