MINUTES
POLICE JURY OF THE PARISH OF CATAHOULA,
STATE OF LOUISIANA
Regular Session - June 9, 2025
The Police Jury of the Parish of Catahoula, State of Louisiana,
met in Regular Session on Monday June 9, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in
the Catahoula Parish Police Jury Meeting Room located at 301
Bushley Street, Harrisonburg, Louisiana.
With a quorum established, President Rodney Sones called
the meeting to order and presided over the session. President
Sones offered the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The following business was conducted:
ROLL CALL
A Roll Call of Jurors was conducted by Secretary/Treasurer
Tammie Edwards.
PRESENT:
President Rodney Sones, Vice President Micah Hughes, Ju-
rors Wayne Meyers, Johnnie Ray Adams, Johnnie Estes, Rickie
Crumpton, Bobby Wilson, Debra Lewis, Nena Jo McMillin, Secre-
tary/Treasurer Tammie Edwards and Assistant Secretary Ashley
Lazarus.
ABSENT:
None
ADDENDUMS:
On a motion by Wayne Meyers, seconded by Johnie Estes,
the Jury voted unanimously to add one additional item to the
agenda.
ADOPTION OF AGENDA:
On a motion by Bobby Wilson, seconded by Johnny Adams,
the Jury voted unanimously to adopt the meeting agenda.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
No public comments on agenda items.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
On a motion by Johnie Estes, seconded by Wayne Meyers,
the Jury unanimously approved the Minutes from the last meet-
ing.
FINANCE COMMITTEE:
On a motion by Wayne Meyers, seconded by Debra Lewis,
the Jury unanimously approved payment of invoices submitted
by the Finance Committee.
ROADS:
Juror Wayne Meyers reported that he has been working to
meet with property owner Chris Stone regarding obtaining a
servitude to relocate a portion of Jug Bend Road due to erosion
caused by the Ouachita River. No updated information was re-
ceived from MML&H concerning surveys for other road projects.
ROAD MAINTENANCE REPORT:
Road Superintendent Buck Atkins presented the Parish Main-
tenance Report for the month of May. He also reported that 16
trees were removed after hours on nine roads due to weather
related issues. Atkins noted that a shortage of personnel-partic-
ularly those with COL licenses-continues to be a challenge. The
Parhams Road project is set to begin soon and will require seven
of the nine crew members. It was recommended that "as-need-
ed" drivers be hired to help address staffing shortages.
BLIGHTED PROPERTIES:
Secretary-Treasurer Tammie Edwards reported that the of-
fice has not received correspondence from the property owners
of 260 Cantwell Road. Additional property owners who were is-
sued letters have contacted the office and are currently in the
process of cleaning their properties.
FALL ELECTION:
President Sones announced that qualifying for the Ward 3
Juror for the October election is set for July 9th, 10th, and 11th
at the Clerk of Court's office.
ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM JURORS:
Vice President Micah Hughes provided information related
to the EMS Reform that would assist with Federal and State fund-
ing for Rural Ambulance services.
ADJOURN:
With a motion by Wayne Meyers, seconded by Johnie Estes,
the Jury unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting.
