The Village of Simsboro Town Hall Meeting, The Village of Simsboro met in Regular session on May 5, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. Council members present were Mayor Pro-Tempore Doug Durrett, Alderwoman Hazel Tuminello, and Alderman Jerry White. Mayor Pro-Tempore Doug Durrett called the meeting to order. Alderman Jerry White led prayer and pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Pro-Tempore Doug Durrett presented the Agenda to the Aldermen and asked for motion to accept as presented. Motion was made by Alderman Jerry White and seconded by Alderwoman Hazel Tuminello The agenda was approved. Mayor Pro-Tempore Doug Durrett asked if there were any questions or corrections from April 7, 2024, minutes and there were none. A motion was made by Alderwoman Hazel Tuminello and seconded by Alderman Jerry White to accept the minutes as read. Motion passed. Approval of Municipal Bill: The Aldermen were provided with a report of Accounts payable to review. Mayor Pro-Tempore Doug Durrett asked if there was any discussion on the bills. Alderman Jerry White asked about cost of the Insurance. A motion was made to pay the municipal bills by Alderwoman Hazel Tuminello and seconded by Alderman Jerry White. Motion passed. The Budget for 2025-2026 was presented to the council for review and will be voted on for adoption at the next appointed meeting in June. Adoption of Ordinance 02-25: Adoption of Ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 04-18 to include the sales tax on digital products and/or telecommunication services within the Village of Simsboro was presented to the council for adoption. A motion was made by Alderwoman Hazel Tuminello and seconded by Alderman Jerry White. Motion passed. A copy of the full Ordinance can be reviewed at the Village of Simsboro Town Hall at 2742 Martha Street. Public comment: None Adoption of Resolution No. 05-25: Millage for the 2025 Tax Roll for the Village of Simsboro was presented to the council for adoption. The millage for 2025 Tax Roll for the Village of Simsboro was brought before the counsel to not roll forward and leave millage at 5.080 mills as last year. A motion was made by Alderwoman Hazel Tuminello and seconded by Alderman Jerry White. Motion passed. Public comment: None. Discussion of a Monthly Trade Event at Ragan Park on the Second Weekend of each Month. Approved. Public comment: Dan Lord of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury District 3 and the council discussed various issues concerning the village. Water and Sewer Report: A.J. Swayze and Jerry Davis were absent. Police Report: Chief Gene Butler stated all is well in the Village and inquired about the littering fines. Adjourn Meeting: Motion was made By Alderwoman Hazel Tuminello and seconded by Alderman Jerry White to adjourn meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 6:49 p.m.
