PUBLIC NOTICE
Proceedings from the regular scheduled Board Meeting of the IBERIA PARISH RECREATION AND PLAYGROUND COMMISSION held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 6:15pm in the Meeting Room at the Administrative Office of the Iberia Parish Recreation Administrative Office located at 113 Willow Wood Drive, New Iberia, LA.
Opening prayer was led by Mr. Leroy Jones.
Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Mrs. Dorothy Gauthier.
Roll was called by Mrs. Tammy Trahan.
Members present were Mrs. Dorothy Gauthier, Mr. Leroy Jones, Mr. John Boudreaux Sr., Mrs. Kirsten Bourque Mr. Calvin Arrington, Mr. Benny Roy and Mrs. Courtney B. Fitch.
Members absent were - none.
Mayor Chris Tipper Esponge, the newly elected Mayor of the Town of Delcambre introduced himself to the board.
Mr. Gerald Gesser of Gesser Group addressed the board of the scope of work that is needed for the 2025 Capital Improvement Project for the King Joseph Drainage and Painting project.
Motion by Courtney B. Fitch, seconded by John Boudreaux Sr. to separate the 2025 Capital Improvement Project for the King Joseph Drainage and Painting Project into two independent projects and to further authorize the Director to proceed with the Drainage Project at this time.
The motion was unanimously approved.
Motion by Mrs. Kirsten Bourque, seconded by Mrs. Courtney B. Fitch to send an Acknowledgement of Sympathy from the Iberia Parish Recreation and Playground Commission and the Iberia Parish Recreation Staff, to the family of Mrs. Lula Mae Desormeaux Perez, mother of Iberia Parish Recreation employees, Mr. Craig Perez and Mr. Marty Perez, who passed away on January 28, 2025.
The motion was unanimously accepted.
Motion by Mrs. Kirsten Bourque, seconded by Mrs. Courtney B. Fitch to send an Acknowledgement of Sympathy from the Iberia Parish Recreation and Playground Commission and the Iberia Parish Recreation Staff, to the family of Mrs. Verna Dubois Sonnier, who passed away on January 23, 2025. Whereas, for many years Mrs. Sonnier dedicated her time to the youth of the Jeanerette community through the Jeanerette Little League Baseball and Softball program. This league was played at TJ Viator Park (Jeanerette City Park) and Burleigh Park.
The motion was unanimously accepted.
Motion by Mrs. Kirsten Bourque, seconded by Mr. Calvin Arrington, to approve the minutes of the Iberia Parish Recreation and Playground Commissions regular scheduled board meeting held on January 14, 2025 as published.
The motion was unanimously accepted.
Motion by Mrs. Courtney B. Fitch, seconded by Mr. Calvin Arrington to approve the restructuring of the rates for the Isle of Iberia RV Resort due to the recent tax increases. Whereas, currently the rates included tax, new reservations will now show the taxes broken out of the rental.
The motion was unanimously adopted.
Motion by Mr. John Boudreaux Sr., seconded by Mrs. Kirsten Bourque to approve the 2024 Capital Improvement Carryovers as presented.
The motion was unanimously accepted.
Motion by Mrs. Kirsten Bourque, seconded by Mr. Calvin Arrington, that the meeting be adjourned.
The motion was unanimously accepted.
