FLORIDA GAS TRANSMISSION COMPANY, LLC
Proposed Project in St. Landry and East Baton Rouge Parishes, Louisiana
The Filing ?? December 13, 2024:
On December 13, 2024, Florida Gas Transmission Company, LLC (FGT) filed an application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct additional facilities to our existing interstate natural gas pipeline system. The project has been designated as our South Central Louisiana Project and the application has been assigned Docket No. CP25-30-000 at the FERC.
Florida Gas Transmission ?? Your clean energy partner:
FGT is an interstate pipeline company with offices in Maitland, Florida, and Houston, Texas, and has employees at field offices along our vast pipeline system. FGT operates an approximately 5,381-mile natural gas pipeline system that runs from South Texas to Homestead, Florida. The FGT pipeline system has been safely supplying natural gas to Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the majority of Florida's natural gas needs for over 60 years through an extensive network of underground pipelines.
South Central Louisiana Project ?? Its scope and purpose:
The South Central Louisiana Project refers to FGT's proposal to transport incremental capacity of up to 75,000 MMBtu/d of firm transportation service from FGT's existing Trunkline Vermillion receipt point in Vermillion Parish, Louisiana, and Trunkline Gillis East, in Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana, for delivery service to the primary delivery points at FGT's existing SESH Lucedale, Destin P/L, and GSPL Merrill in George County, Mississippi, and GSPL Mobile Bay-FGT Capacity and SESH Mobile Bay in Mobile County, Alabama. The proposal includes to (i) uprate one existing natural gas-fired compressor turbine unit for additional compression of approximately 1,200 horsepower (HP) and rewheel the three existing natural gas-fired compressor turbine units at FGT's existing Compressor Station (CS) 7.5 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, (ii) add one new natural gas-fired compressor turbine unit and approximately 700 feet of new 30-inch suction and approximately 700 feet of new 30-inch discharge header piping, for additional compression of approximately 15,900 HP at the existing CS 8 in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, and appurtenances as needed. (No Compressor Station activities will take place outside the fenced area of FGT's Compressor Stations.)
FGT proposes to commence construction in the first quarter 2026, in order to meet the customer's requested in-service date for the project of January 1, 2027.
The purpose of the South Central Louisiana Project is to provide additional firm transportation capacity up to 75,000 million British thermal units per day (MMBtu/d) of natural gas to be utilized by Tampa Electric Company's (TECO) to expand their flow path back into the Zone 2 pool and provide gas to downstream customers, which includes power generation and local distribution.
