The Assumption Parish School Board met in Regular Session on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Assumption Parish Media Center, Napoleonville, LA with President, Lee Meyer, Jr., presiding.

PRESENT: Honoray Lewis (Ward 1), Lee Meyer, Jr. (Ward 2), Andrea Barras (Ward 3), Electa Fletcher Mickens (Ward 4), Joshua Hebert (Ward 5), Bambi Hood (Ward 7), Jessica Ourso (Ward 8), Doris Dugas (Ward 9)

ABSENT: Daniel Washington (Ward 6)

The meeting was opened in prayer led by Honoray Lewis, Board Member Ward 1, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Andrea Barras, Board Vice President.

Adoption of Agenda

On motion of Ms. Dugas / seconded by Ms. Ourso and unanimously carried - the Board adopted the agenda.

Consent Agenda

a) Approve minutes of November 13, 2024 School Board Meeting;

b) Approve addendum items.

On motion of Mr. Lewis / seconded by Ms. Hood and unanimously carried - the Board adopted the consent agenda.

Election of Officers

Mr. Meyer opened the floor for nominations for president. Ms. Barras motioned to nominate Mrs. Hood for president. Motion seconded by Mr. Lewis. Mrs. Hood accepted the nomination. Mrs. Hood appointed president.

Mr. Meyer opened the floor for nominations for vice president. Mr. Lewis motioned to nominate Mr. Hebert for vice president. Motion seconded by Mrs. Barras. Mr. Hebert accepted the nomination. Mr. Hebert appointed vice president.

Mr. Meyer opened the floor for nominations for executive committee member. Mr. Meyer motioned to nominate Mr. Lewis for executive committee member. Motion seconded by Ms. Fletcher Mickens. Mr. Lewis accepted the nomination. Mr. Lewis appointed executive committee member.

Reports and Recognition

a) The Board received the Administrative Personnel Report.

b) The Board recognized and honored the following Students of the Year at the District Level:

Annalyse Verdin, 5th Grade, Pierre Part Elementary School

Mya Mollere, 8th Grade, Napoleonville Middle School

Ava Blanchard, 12th Grade, Assumption High School.

c) The Board recognized and honored the Napoleonville Middle School football team as parish and tournament champions.

d) The Board received information from Lisa Links, District Assessment & Data Coordinator, on the 2024 district and school performance scores.

e) The Board recognized and honored Assumption High School, Bayou L’Ourse Primary School, Napoleonville Middle School, and Napoleonville Primary School for being 2023-2024 Top Gains Schools.

f) The Board recognized and honored Assumption High School for being a 2023-2024 Opportunity Honoree School.

g) The Board received the report on the 2023-2024 8(g) Early Childhood Block Grant final evaluation score from Rachel Dugas, Supervisor of Elementary. The district received a perfect final rating.

Policy and Procedure

a) None

Budget

a) On motion of Mr. Lewis / seconded by Ms. Barras and unanimously carried - the Board awarded the lawn care service contract to T&PM Maintenance LLC in the amount of $156,915.00.

Facilities and Grounds

a) On motion of Mr. Hebert / seconded by Ms. Dugas and unanimously carried – the Board authorized the Superintendent to solicit bids for the PPE French Hall HVAC Replacement Project.

b) On motion of Ms. Hood / seconded by Mr. Hebert and unanimously carried - the Board authorized the Superintendent to solicit request for proposals to relocate the boiler from Belle Rose Primary School to the Central Office.

c) On motion of Mr. Lewis / seconded by Ms. Barras and unanimously carried – the Board authorized the Superintendent to accept the bid from Dove Group, LLC in the amount of $40,000.00 for the project known as Boiler Relocation from Assumption High School to Labadieville Middle School.

d) On motion of Ms. Hood / seconded by Ms. Ourso and unanimously carried – the Board approved the revised scope of work to include additional exterior work for the project known as Bayou L’Ourse Primary School Security Upgrade.

Comments and Announcements

Mr. Hebert congratulated the administration and teachers at Assumption High School for being recognized as an Opportunity Honoree.

Mrs. Rachel Dugas recognized the Assumption High School art students for painting the mural on the front of the Head Start building.
