MINUTES OF THE MEETING

OF

VERMILION PARISH SCHOOL BOARD REGULAR MEETING

The Vermilion Parish School Board met, October 17, 2024, in regular session at 216 South JeffersonStreet, Abbeville, LA, at 6:00 p.m., with the following members present: Mr. Chris Hebert, Mr. GreggMeaux, Mr. Jason Roy, Mr. Dale Stelly and Mr. Nick Touchet.

Absent: Mrs. Charlotte Detraz, Dr. David Dupuis, and Mr. Kibbie Pillette.

On motion of Mr. Stelly, seconded by Mr. Hebert and carried unanimously, the Board adopted theminutes as transcribed for filing purposes as the official minutes of the Vermilion Parish School Boardfor the regular meeting held on September 19, 2024.

The Board received an End of Year Reports for Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2024, from Mr. EricJohnson.

On motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Meyers and carried unanimously, the Board accepted moneyfrom the state for one time allocation of $2000 for Certificated Employees and $1000 for supportpersonnel and approved the distribution of these allocations on November 22, 2024.

On motion of Mr. Touchet, seconded by Mr. Stelly and carried unanimously, the Board approvedrenewing the contract with ICF as our third-party FEMA consultants.

On motion of Mr. Stelly, seconded by Mr. Touchet and carried unanimously, the Board awarded bidsreceived for 71/72 Passenger Diesel Powered, Air Conditioned School Buses to the lowest bidder meetingspecifications to bid as per bid tabulation sheet on file.

On motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Touchet and carried unanimously, the Board approveddeclaring miscellaneous equipment as surplus and authorized the Superintendent to negotiate for thedisposition of this equipment.

On motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Touchet and carried unanimously, the Board approvedadvertising for bids for Cafeteria Security Cameras, as submitted by Ms. Amy Fremin.

On motion of Mr. Mr. Touchet, seconded by Mr. Hebert and carried unanimously, the Board authorizedadvertisement of bids for Phase 1 of Dr. Dan Dartez project.

On motion of Mr. Touchet, seconded by Mr. Stelly and carried unanimously, the Board entered intoexecutive session to discuss school security. Roll call vote as follows: YEAS: Mr. Chris Hebert, Mr.Gregg Meaux, Mr. Jason Roy, Mr. Dale Stelly and Mr. Nick Touchet; NAYS: NONE; ABSENT: Mrs.Charlotte Detraz, Dr. David Dupuis, and Mr. Kibbie Pillette. Motion passed.

On motion of Mr. Touchet, seconded by Mr. Hebert and carried unanimously, the Board entered intoexecutive session, pursuant to La. R.S. 42:17(A)(2), to discuss prospective litigation between the SchoolBoard and an employee relative to a work place injury and consideration of any action related toprospective litigation between the School Board and an employee relative to a work place injury. Rollcall vote as follows: YEAS: Mr. Chris Hebert, Mr. Gregg Meaux, Mr. Jason Roy, Mr. Dale Stelly and Mr.Nick Touchet; NAYS: NONE; ABSENT: Mrs. Charlotte Detraz, Dr. David Dupuis, and Mr. KibbiePillette. Motion passed.

On motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Touchet and carried unanimously, the Board entered intoexecutive session for litigation: Andrew and Jenee Higginbotham, individually and on behalf of theirminor child J.H., vs Vermilion Parish School System, et al; Suit No. C-114275, Division G2, 15th JDC,Parish of Vermilion, State of Louisiana. Roll call vote as follows: YEAS: Mr. Chris Hebert, Mr. GreggMeaux, Mr. Jason Roy, Mr. Dale Stelly and Mr. Nick Touchet; NAYS: NONE; ABSENT: Mrs. CharlotteDetraz, Dr. David Dupuis, and Mr. Kibbie Pillette. Motion passed.

On motion of Mr. Stelly, seconded by Mr. Hebert and carried unanimously, the Board reconvened intoregular session.

On motion of Mr. Hebert, seconded by Mr. Touchet and carried unanimously, the Board appointedconflict counsel in the litigation of Andrew and Jenee Higginbotham, individually and on behalf of theirminor child J.H., vs Vermilion Parish School System, et al; Suit No. C-114275, Division G2, 15th JDC,Parish of Vermilion, State of Louisiana.

The Board received and discussed the timeline of Superintendent's Evaluation set for November, 2024.
