The October 2, 2024, 10:00 a.m. meeting of the Lafayette Parish Communication Commission was held in the Emergency Operations Center at the Public Safety Communications Center.
Commissioners, or their alternates, present were: Robert Benoit, Mark Garber, Ken Ritter, Bryan Champagne, Troy Brashear, Troy Guidry, David Anderson, Christina Dayries
Others present were: Craig Stansbury, Linda Lavergne, Robert McFarland, Brad Robin, Stephen Bruner
It was moved by Guidry, seconded by Anderson and the Commission unanimously approved to accept the minutes of the July 10, 2024 regular meeting as written.
The public hearing was opened on the proposed FY 24/25 Budget Document. The Director briefed the Commissioners on the budget document package which had previously been sent out to the Commissioners.
On a motion by Garber, seconded by Dayries, the Directors proposed FY 24/25 Budget Document with Resolution Number 1100224 appropriating monies for same was unanimously approved by the Commission.
In accordance with the By-Laws, nominations were accepted for the 2025 Commission Officers. On a motion by Guidry, seconded by Anderson, the Commission unanimously approved electing Robert Benoit as Chairman for another term. On a motion by Anderson, seconded by Anderson, the Commission unanimously approved electing Troy Guidry as Treasurer.
The Director told the Commissioners that the new 800 MHz radio system and paging system is now operational. He stated that CAD modifications that were recently completed were closest unit to the call location, alerting by jurisdiction, and Smart911. He stated that the District is working on other modifications such as CAD to CAD with Acadian Ambulance and voice alerting via MDT of incident address and incident signal. These should be rolled out in the near future.
The Director made available the monthly budget to actual comparisons for the quarter.
The Director announced that the next scheduled meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Garber and seconded by Guidry and unanimously carried.
