NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTIONS THIS IS NOT A NEW TAX

Pursuant to the provisions of a resolution adopted by the Police Jury of the Parish of Vermilion, State of Louisiana (the "Governing Authority"), acting as the governing authority of (i) the Parish of Vermilion, State of Louisiana, Parishwide and (v) Sub-Road District No. 1 of Road District No. 2 of the Parish of Vermilion, State of Louisiana (the "Parish and Districts"),NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that special elections will be held within the Parish and Districts on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2024, and that at the said elections there will be submitted to all registered voters in the Parish and Districts qualified and entitled to vote at the said elections under the Constitution and Laws of the State of Louisiana and the Constitution of the United States, the following propositions, to-wit:

PARISH OF VERMILION. STATE OF LOUISIANA – PARISHWIDE PROPOSITION (TAX RENEWAL)

Shall the Parish of Vermilion, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), continue to levy a special tax of 3.26 mills on all property subject to taxation in the Parish (an estimated $1,106,600 expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of 10 years, beginning with the year 2025 and ending with the year 2034, for the purpose of maintaining and keeping in repair the public roads and highways of the Parish?

SUB-ROAD DISTRICT NO. 1 OF ROAD DISTRICT NO. 2 PROPOSITION (TAX RENEWAL)

Shall Sub-Road District No. 1 of Road District No. 2 of the Parish of Vermilion, State of Louisiana (the "District"), continue to levy a special tax of 5.06 mills on all property subject to taxation in the District (an estimated $416,700 expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of 10 years, beginning with the year 2025 and ending with the year 2034, for the purpose of maintaining the roads in the District?

These taxes pay for the following;

Costs associated with the operation of the four Area Road Maintenance Barns, the FRS crew, Mechanic shop and Main Road Maintenance Barn in Abbeville.

Examples: Purchase of Equipment and Vehicles and includes fuel, tires, and parts for repairs, Utilities, Telephone, Pesticide/Herbicide and related costs, Maintenance of property and equipment, Insurance to include building, workers comp, unemployment, and auto, Office Supplies, Maintenance and Repair of Roads which includes replacing and repairing road signs, filling potholes, mowing along the ditch and digging out ditches and the cost of materials to fill/repair the potholes, Uniforms, Tools, Salaries for Employees assigned to the departments listed above, Taxes such as Payroll (Federal, State, FICA, and Medicare), Medical Insurance for Employees

Said special election for the Parish of Vermilion will be held at each and every polling place in the Parish, which polls will open at seven o'clock (7:00) a.m. and close at eight o'clock (8:00) p.m., in accordance with the provisions of La. R.S. 18:541.
