The Housing Authority of the City of Slidell (HACS) is announcing the opening of its HCV wait list. Applications will be accepted beginning at noon (12:00PM) October 1, 2024 and ending at noon (12:00PM) October 5, 2024. The application will be online at http://slidellhousingauthority.org/wlApplication.aspx.
HACS does have a wait list preference for current Slidell residents (1 point) and for working heads of household (1 point). Once the selection process has begun, HACS will select 3 applications based on initial application date and time. HACS will then select 1 application based on preference points. The process will continue to repeat, with 3 applications selected based on application date and time, and 1 based on preference points until we have exhausted all applications.
Upon selection from the wait list, the family will be provided with a full application packet via our applicant portal. If the applicant does not have access to the internet, a full application packet will be provided via US Mail. With their application packet, families will also receive an appointment letter scheduling an in-person interview. Families unable to attend their applicant interview will be afforded one opportunity to reschedule. Families that do not attend their applicant interview will have their application purged and will be required to apply again at a future date.
Upon conclusion of the interview, and if the family has provided all the required eligibility documentation, a voucher will be issued the same day. Families will be required to attend a short briefing video presentation following their interview.
HACS treats all applicants and participants equally, providing the same quality of service, regardless of family characteristics and background. Federal law prohibits discrimination in housing on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, familial status, and disability. In addition, HUD regulations provide for additional protections regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, and marital status. HACS will comply fully with all federal, state, and local nondiscrimination laws; with rules and regulations governing fair housing; with equal opportunity in housing and employment. For more information regarding HACS compliance with federal, state, and local nondiscrimination laws and regulations, please see our Administrative Plan for HCV located on our website.
