PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE PARISH OF

CATAHOULA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT THE REGULAR

MEETING HELD ON

TUESDAY, September 3, 2024.

The Catahoula Parish School Board, State of Louisiana, met

at the Catahoula Parish School Board Meeting Room, Harrisonburg, Louisiana on September 3, 2024 at 6:00 P.M.

There were present: Board President - Dewey Stockman,

John Allbritton, Peggy Beard, J.M. Blaney, Cynthia Brown, Toshiro

Fisher, Tonya Pardue and Dorothy Watson

There were absent: Tillman Jolly

The meeting was opened with prayer by John Allbritton and

Tonya Pardue led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag;

On a motion by Cynthia Brown, seconded by Tonya Pardue,

and passed unanimously, the Board approved minutes from the

regular meeting on August 6, 2024;

On a motion by Dorothy Watson, seconded by John Allbritton and passed unanimously, the Board authorized the Superintendent to sign the appropriate forms rejecting Uninsured/

Underinsured Motorist Coverage;

On a motion by Cynthia Brown, seconded by John Allbritton

and passed unanimously, the Board entered a Public Hearing to

discuss the Combined Proposed Budget for the FY 2024-2025

On a motion by Cynthia Brown, seconded by Tonya Pardue

and passed, the Board

Exited Public Hearing;

On a motion by Dorothy Watson, seconded by J.M. Blaney

and passed unanimously, the Board waived Board policy and approved and expenditure in excess of $5000 to LARMA through

Alliant Insurance Services, Inc for the renewal of the General Liability, Auto Fleet, Cyber and School Leaders Errors and Omissions

coverage beginning October 1, 2024 through October 1, 2025 in

the amount of $98,537.00;

On a motion by Cynthia Brown, seconded by Dorothy Watson and passed, the Board waived Board policy and approved

and expenditure in excess of $5000, to Schools PLP for Spanish

and virtual school classes for the 2024-2025 school year in the

amount of approximately $90,000 to be paid with fiscal funds;

On a motion by Toshiro Fisher, seconded by Peggy Beard and

passed, the Board approved the funding for the NOLA Education

Star Academy at Block High School for three years, 2024-25,

2025-26, and 2026-27 contingent upon funds being allocated by

LDOE;

On a motion by J.M. Blaney, seconded by Dorothy Watson

and passed, the Board considered changing the board meeting

days from the first Tuesday of every month to the first Thursday

of each month;

On a motion by J.M. Blaney, seconded by Dorothy Watson

and passed, the Board withdrew the motion;

On a motion by Dorothy Watson, seconded by J.M. Blaney

and passed, the Board discussed approving the job descriptions

as discussed previously with board members;

Toshiro Fisher made a motion to table, item number 10 on

the agenda, until the October Meeting, it was seconded by Dorothy Watson;

On a motion by Cynthia Brown, seconded by Peggy Beard

and passed unanimously, the board approved the following recfrom the Executive Committee of Finance:

Approved a payment in excess of $5000 in the amount of

Tyler Technology in the amount of $7,237.82 for the annual renewal of the disaster recovery service for the business department accounting software to be paid from the 2024-2025 General Fund

Approved a payment in excess of $5,000 in the amount of

$103,871.88 to LWCC, for our annual renewal of our workers

compensation insurance,to be paid from 2024-2025 General

Funds;

Superintendent’s Notes

Several school administrators are in training this week for the

new LA. Educator Rubric training to prepare for the state’s new

teacher evaluation system.

Junior High basketball season is here. Central High School

will host a tournament next week and Harrisonburg Tournament

is the following week. Both are on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Block will have their first home football game on September

13 vs Ferriday, the following week they will host Vidalia on September 20;

The first 6 weeks ends on September 20;

September 26 is Parent Teacher Conference for the first 6

weeks;

September 27 is Fall Break;

Block High School will host the College & Career Fair for Catahoula Parish on October 4;

Next School Board Meeting will be Tuesday, October 1
