PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT OF THE CITY OF NEW IBERIA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT THE REGULAR MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 2024, AT 5:00 P.M. ON THE THIRD FLOOR OF CITY HALL.

Wyatt Collins, Chairman called the meeting to order, called the roll, and determined there was a quorum. ATTENDING: Wyatt Collins, Butch Thornton, Edwina Bell, Judy Rizzo, Michael Johnson. ABSENT: Tommy Granger. ALSO, PRESENT: Matt Gulotta, CBO and Jane Braud, Director of Planning & Zoning Department. MOTION TO APPROVE MINUTES: Butch Thornton offered a motion, seconded by Edwina Bell, and unanimously approved to accept the minutes of July 23, 2024. Yeas: Wyatt Collins, Edwina Bell, Judy Rizzo, Butch Thornton, Michael Johnson. Nays: None. Absent: Tommy Granger

DOCKET #1- HOME OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE: Zachary Buteaux, 102 Sandalwood Dr., New Iberia, La. is applying for a license to operate Buteaux Custom Renovations, LLC from this address. Mr. Buteaux stated that his business will be strictly off-site work and no customers or signage at this location. There was no opposition. MOTION: Butch Thornton offered a motion, seconded by Judy Rizzo to approve the home occupational license for Zachary Buteau, 102 Sandalwood Dr., New Iberia to operate Buteaux Custom Renovation, LLC using this address only for scheduling, invoicing and paperwork relative to the business. Yeas: Wyatt Collins, Edwina Bell, Judy Rizzo, Butch Thornton, Michael Johnson. Nays: None. Absent: Tommy Granger

DOCKET #2 - HOME OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE: Jeanette Castillo, 516 Caldron Lane, New Iberia, LA. is applying for a license to provide private sitter services. Ms. Castillo appeared and stated that shed been in the caretaking/medical profession for years and was applying to provide private sitter services through her business called Quality Care Sitters. There was no opposition. MOTION: Michael Johnson offered a motion, seconded by Edwina Bell to approve the home occupational license for Ms. Castillo, 516 Caldron Lane for Quality Care Sitters sitter service. Yeas: Wyatt Collins, Edwina Bell, Judy Rizzo, Butch Thornton, Michael Johnson. Nays: None. Absent: Tommy Granger

DOCKET #3 THE APPLICANT WITHDREW HIS REQUEST PRIOR TO THE MEETING: VARIANCE REQUEST: Raymond Lewis, 1226 Angie St. to construct a new residence with open carport. MOTION: There being no further business, Edwina Bell offered a motion, seconded by Michael Johnson to adjourn the August 27, 2024 meeting of the New Iberia Board of Adjustment. Yeas: Wyatt Collins, Edwina Bell, Judy Rizzo, Butch Thornton, Michael Johnson. Nays: None. Absent: Tommy Granger. The City of New Iberias Zoning Ordinance provides that any party aggrieved by any decision of the Board may within thirty (30) days after the filing of the decision in the office of the Board, present to the District Court of the Parish of Iberia, a petition for a Writ of Certiorari, asking for relief as provided in LA.
