REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING

AUGUST 16, 2024

AGENDA: To discuss regular monthly business for the month of July and to adopt the adjusted millage rate(s)

Call to Order: Meeting called to order. Attendance: Mayor Troy Terell, Clerk: Sonya Ryan, Council Members: Travis Womack and Chrissy Ebarb, Utility Department: Doug Williams, Police Department: Chief David Gentry and Madison Ebarb, Guest Karen Womack.

Roll Call: Mayor Troy Terell, Sonya Ryan, Travis Womack, Chrissy Ebarb, Doug Williams, David Gentry, Madison Ebarb and Karen Womack.

Welcome, Pledge, and Prayer: Pledge was led by Chrissy Ebarb and prayer by David Gentry.

Approval of Minutes from last meeting, July 2024 Minutes: A motion to approve minutes from July 1, 2024 meeting was made by Travis Womack and seconded by Chrissy Ebarb. Motion Carried.

June Financial Report: A motion to accept June 2024 financial report was made by Travis Womack and seconded by Chrissy Ebarb. Motion carried.

Reports:

Police: Chief Gentry stated that he talked with AMS Collection Agency who partners with Quick PD to collect all unpaid tickets to go forward in helping 4e Village of Converse collect unpaid tickets. A motion to move forward with AMS collection agency was made by Chrissy Ebarb and seconded by Travis Womack. Motion carried. Chief Gentry also got a quote from SAT Com for a new updated computer and back up system for the clerk's computer. A motion to accept the quote for both new computer and them transferring all data to new computer in the amount of $1275.00 was made by Travis Womack and seconded by Chrissy Ebarb. Motion carried. A motion to get SAT Com to install a backup for the clerks' computer was made Chrissy Ebarb and seconded by Travis Womack. Motion carried. Chief Gentry introduced Deputy Madison Ebarb to the Council. Chief Gentry stated that school is back in session and Mrs. Julie Wray is the new principal.

Water, Sewer, and Streets: Mr. Doug stated that we have now gotten the excavator, side cutter, grapple, blades and trailer in which we used the money we received from the ACT 397. We have replaced all of the bad registers. Mr. Doug stated that there was a couple of water leaks that are now fixed. Mr. Williams also attended the LRWA conference in July for his water and wastewater hours. There will be a management training class September 26 in Many Mr. Doug encourages the mayor and council members to attend.

New Business: None

l. Adopt the adjusted millage rate(s). A motion to adopt the adjusted millage rates was made by Travis Womack and seconded by Chrissy Ebarb. Motion carried.

2. Set forth the adjusted millage rate(s) and roll forward to millage rate(s) not exceeding the maximum authorized rate(s).

Adjournment: A motion to adjourn was made to adjourn by Travis Womack and seconded by Chrissy Ebarb. Motion carried.

RESOLUTION

BE IT RESOLVED, that the following millage(s) are hereby levied on the 2024 tax roll on all property subject to taxation by Village of Converse:

(Name of taxing district)

MILLAGE

Street & Drainage: 6.25 mills

General Alimony: 4.53 mills

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper administrative officials of the Parish of Sabine . State of Louisiana, be and they are hereby empowered, authorized, and directed to spread said taxes, as hereinabove set forth, upon the assessment roll of said Parish for the year 20a, and to make the collection of the taxes imposed for and on behalf of the taxing authority, according to law, and that the taxes herein levied shall become a permanent lien and privilege on all property subject to taxation as herein set forth, and collection thereof shall be enforceable in the manner provided by law.

The foregoing resolution was read in full, the roll was called on the adoption thereof, and the resolution was adopted by the following votes:
