NOTICE FOR BIDS
HUNTING & FISHING LEASE
RACELAND PRAIRIE AREA
By virtue of and in conformity with the provisions of L.R.S. 41:1211 through 41:1222, sealed bids will be received up to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2024, and publicly opened and read aloud at the office of the Lafourche Parish School Board, Business Complex at 701 East 7th Street, Thibodaux, Louisiana 70301, for the leasing of hunting and fishing privileges on the following described lands lying and being situated in the Parish of Lafourche, Louisiana, to-wit:

16-16-18 Raceland Prairie, lying at the intersection of U.S. Highway90 and La. Highway 182. The portion of the property that islocated northwest of Highway 182 less and except the rights-of-way for the highways is estimated at 163 acres more or less. Theportion of the property that is located southeast of Highway 182less and except the rights-of-way for the highways, LPSBlease tracts 1 and 2, and leases to Lafourche Parish Government,and the Lafourche Parish Sheriffs Office is estimated to contain280 acres, more or less. Together, these tracts are estimated tocontain 443 acres and are depicted on a map that can be obtainedfrom the School Board Business Offices Land and FacilitiesDept.

All bids must be sealed; the envelope marked "Bid Section 16, Township16S, Range 18Eand addressed to the Lafourche Parish School Board, Attention: Mr. John Cheramie, 701 East 7th St., Thibodaux, LA 70301, marked HUNTING AND FISHING LEASE on the envelope. Bids may be hand delivered, in which instance a receipt shall be given to the bidder; or bids may be sent by registered mail. Bidder must offer an annual rental of not less than $11.00 per acre for a lease with a primary term of five years to end August 31st, 2029. Annual renewal rentals will be due each year by August 31st, in order to continue the lease in effect. Cash payment or a certified or cashier's check, or tellers check, or an official check issued by a bank in favor of the Lafourche Parish School Board for the amount of the annual rental for the first year shall accompany and be deposited with the bid (no checks other than types noted above are acceptable) and the rental thus deposited shall be forfeited to the Board as liquidated damages if the successful bidder fails to enter into a written contract in accordance with his bid within ten (10) days after acceptance by the Board at its meeting on September 4, 2024. Bids must be for the entire property advertised.
The bid submitted must include the following information: Name of Bidder, Address of Bidder, Phone Number of Bidder.
The lease shall be subordinate to oil, gas, and mineral leases previously granted or to be granted; and the Lessor may without violating the surface hunting lease, authorize exploration by any method, including but not limited to geophysical and geological explorations for formations or structures, and prospecting and drilling for mining and producing minerals.
This agreement can be terminated by Lessor or Lessee upon 60 days written notice prior to the anniversary date of the lease. Penalties may apply for early termination under certain circumstances.
Successful bidders must maintain $1,000,000 of liability insurance at all times during the term(s) of this lease. Further, Lessee shall provide a Certificate of Insurance as evidence that such liability insurance is in force, along with the following endorsements: Lessor as Additional Insured and a 30 day Notice of Cancellation. Additionally, Lessee will be required to indemnify and hold the School Board harmless for any accidents occurring on the property.
This agreement can be terminated by Lessor or Lessee upon 60 days written notice prior to the anniversary date of the lease.
The Lafourche Parish School Board does not warrant or provide ingress or egress to the leased premises. Ingress and egress is the sole responsibility of lessee.
Bids will be referred to the School Board at its meeting on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 6 P.M.
The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids received.
