PUBLIC NOTICE

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) is considering a request for Federal assistance from SOWELA Technical Community College to construct a Flight School in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), EDA is conducting an assessment of the potential of the proposed project to affect the environment and/or historic properties.

SOWELA is planning the establishment of a Flight Training School to provide aspiring pilots with comprehensive training programs leading to a Private Pilots License (PPL) and commercial flight training. The project will be located at Chennault International Airport near Mallard Cove St. Project information is available for review at SOWELA Technical Community College, 3749 Senator J. Bennett Johnston Ave, Regional Training Center Room 213, Lake Charles, LA 70615.

Comments received in the EDA Regional Office by 5:00 pm central on January 23, 2024, 15 days after the third day of publication of this notice. A copy of the NEPA/NHPA decisional document will be available upon request at the above EDA Regional Office.
