Regular Fire Board Meeting
November 16th, 2023
7:00 PM Central Station
The meeting was called to order by the President of the Fire Board, Jimmy Ledet at 7pm.
After Pledge a moment of silence for Raymond Jake Haydel, 94 years old, and a member of Protector Fire Co. No.2 for 59 years.
Roll called and attendance taken. Members present are as follows:

Ty Landry made a motion to accept Novembers Board minutes with the correction of Saturday night Headliner should be Friday Night Headliner. The motion was second by Chris Grabert. Motion carried 11-0.
COMMUNICATIONS
Secretary Barrilleaux stated that the joint meeting will be held on Friday January 19th,2024..
Secretary Barrilleaux asks board members to update their members email and mailing addresses to keep the membership better informed and that Albert Fields had sent all companies copies of the Departments current information. Please have this back after the December Company business meetings. This is needed to send out invitations for the Joint meeting.
Dillards is offering a First responder discount on November 29th and 30th,2023.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Fair Chairman No report. Committee did not meet this month.
Entertainment Both headliners are booked. The stage that was at Acadia Music Fest is the same stage that will be used at the Fair.
Parade: Foye Jr. passed out Flyers to bring to the companies to start discussion of the Parade for 2021.
Fire Prevention Almost done with yearly visits to schools.
CHIEFS REPORTS
Chief Tony Boudreaux reported
- E 17 was in an accident and will need repairs. Will stay in service until parts for repairs are received.
- E23 and Bowie station have been repaired.
- Had 2 nights of Training at East Thibodaux. Thank you to Thompson construction and the School Board for allowing us to train.
- Nathan Richard will have his Boot Shake for Seattle Blood Cancer on Feb 10th.
- Chief Boudreaux informed the Board that he will seek re-election as Chief.
Asst Chief Todd Albert - Chief Albert informed the Board that he will seek re-election as
Asst Chief.
Asst. Chief Glyn Comeaux -Chief Comeaux informed the Board that he will seek
reelection. as Asst - Chief

TREASURERS REPORT
- Motion by Mike Palmer and 2nd by Chris Grabert to pay all bills.
Motion passed 11-0-1, Ty Landry Abstaining.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
- No member transfers.
-South Thibodaux Station:
- Demo is Complete and Groundbreaking on December 2nd,2023.
-Central Station Committee- Planning for notice to proceed on construction after the
2024Fair is complete. Updated floor plan and proposed
building elevations expected soon.
- Mobil Home Mr. Tolbert would like to pay for the lot in installments.
- Motion by Josh R. Bourgeois and seconded by Ty Landry to move
- forward with what public law allows. Motion passed 12-0
- Storing Old Minutes and Records Nothing to report
- TVFD 150 years Committee has been formed with first planning meeting on November 29th,2023.
- VCH Station Working on an agreement between Company and Department.
NEW BUSINESS
- New members.
Bowie Fire Company No.1 Frank Nezzio
Motion by Ron Bourgeois and seconded by Chris Grabert to approve the revised 2022-23 budget presented by Treasurer Ed Comeaux. Motion passed 12-0.
Motion by Mike Palmer and seconded by Ron Bourgeois to approve the proposed 2023-24 budget presented by Treasurer Ed Comeaux. Motion passed 12-0.
President Ledet opened the floor for nominations for Department Treasurer. Chris Grabert nominated Ed Comeaux for the position. After accepting and no other nominations, by acclamation Ed Comeaux was elected Treasurer.
- Motion by Ron Bourgeois and seconded by Rodney Gautreaux to form a committee to negotiate a purchase agreement with the property owners at the corner of Plantation and Tiger Dr. for purchase of said property. Motion passed 12-0.
- Chief Boudreaux said two public bids were received for a new Air One Unit. Motion by Mike Palmer and second by Ty Landry to accept the low bid from Bonaventure/Rosenbauer in the amount of $837,294.00 and have the TVFD president sign the contract. Chief Boudreaux in collaboration with the other chiefs will begin the process of value engineering in an attempt to lower the cost. Motion passed 12-0.
- Secretary Barrilleaux presented the Board with the two nominations for Honorary Chief and if they met the criteria set forth in the nomination guideline:
The First was Ron Bourgeois of Fire Company No. 1. Ron has over 25 years as a member and over 20 years as an officer (set attached Nomination Form.) Motion by Chris Grabert and seconded by Mike Palmer to send Rons nomination to the Companys for a vote. Motion passed 11-0-1 (Ron Bourgeois Abstaining)
The 2nd Nomination was Chase Benoit of South Thibodaux Fire Company. Chase has 15 years as a member and 13.5 years as an officer (see attached form.) Chase does not meet the Criteria set forth by the Guidelines. Motion by Mike Palmer and seconded by Rodney Gautreaux to make an exception since Chase passed away before he could complete his service time. Motion failed 8-3 -1(Ron Bourgeois abstained) with 9 votes need for passage according to City Ordinance Sec. 9-9. This nomination will not go to the companies to vote.
- Secretary Barrilleaux informed the Board that he will seek re-election.
- Chief Boudreaux said that they are currently in the process of rebuilding the Fair and Department websites. Once he has more information, he will bring it to the Board for review. No action was taken.
- Moton by Chris Grabert and second by Ty Landry to adjourn. Motion passed 12-0
- Meeting adjourned at 7:55pm
