An emergency public meeting of the Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District was held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. at the Water District office, 1016 St. Mary Street, Thibodaux, LA
Present were: Hugh Caffery, Chairman Gene Harrell, Vice-Chairman;Greg Nolan, Secretary/Treasurer Jake Giardina;Ray Mayet Ernie Blanchard;Joe Boudreaux Dale Dennis;Francis Richard
Absent were: Barry Soudelier; Lance Authement; Chris Domangue
Also present were: Barry Marionneaux, Attorney; Dustin Rabalais, Executive Director
Chairman Hugh Caffery began the meeting at 5:00 p.m.
Mr. Caffery stated that public comments can be made at any time in the meeting prior to action on any agenda item upon which a vote is to be taken.
The Resolution authorizing the District to declare a State of Emergency due to low water levels in Bayou Lafourche, being further complicated by problems associated with equipment malfunctions at its Donaldsonville Pump Station and low water surface elevations in the Mississippi River, was read aloud.
Chairman Caffery asked for any public comments. There were none.
Moved by Commissioner Dale Dennis, seconded by Vice-Chairman Gene Harrell to adopt the resolution authorizing the Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District to declare a State of Emergency due to low water levels in Bayou Lafourche, being further complicated by problems associated with equipment malfunctions at its Donaldsonville Pump Station and low water surface elevations in the Mississippi River. Motion carried unanimously.
Chairman Caffery asked for any public comments. There were none.
Moved by Commissioner Francis Richard, seconded by Commissioner Joe Boudreaux to adjourn the meeting at 5:51 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
