MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
SIXTH WARD & CROWLEY DRAINAGE DISTRICT
May 11, 2023
The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Sixth Ward & Crowley Drainage District was held at their office, 110 E. Fifth St., Crowley, Louisiana at 6:30 p.m. on May 11, 2023, after the giving and posting of prior notice of said meeting in the manner provided by law.
Present: Wayne Baronet, Brad Core, Chris Sarver and Reece Guillot. Absent: Terry Istre.
Also Present: Michael Habetz, Anne Regan and Aaron Broussard.
President Wayne Baronet called the meeting to order and asked for a reading of the minutes from April 13, 2023. On motion of Reece Guillot, seconded by Chris Sarver, motion was made to dispense with reading of minutes and approve minutes as written. All in favor, motion passed.
President Wayne Baronet called for the Treasurer’s Report. On motion of Reece Guillot, seconded by Chris Sarver, motion was made to dispense with reading of Treasurer’s Report of April 30, 2023 and approved as written. All in favor, motion to approve.
Bills for month of April 2023 were reviewed and motion made by Chris Sarver, seconded by Reece Guillot, to approve bills for payment. (The Manco bill was held for payment due to discrepancies on invoice vs. attached job orders). All in favor, motion passed.
Work Report was presented by Supervisor Michael Habetz for services performed in April 2023 and for ongoing proposed work for May 2023. Mr. Habetz also reported tested that was successfully passed by himself, Landon Lejeune and Karl Stoute. On motion of Reece Guillot, seconded by Chris Sarver, the Board approved the Work Report.
The President called for Old Business. There was none.
President Wayne Baronet called for New Business.
The Board was informed that instead of an Attestation, an Audit is now required due to funds received by Sixth Ward and Crowley Drainage District in 2022 and Legislative Auditor requirements. On motion of Chris Sarver, seconded by Reece Guillot, motion to approve preparation of Audit. All in favor, motion passed.
The President called for a Bid Proposal on Adams – Leleux ditches. The Board received Bids from Dale Trahan Trackhoe and Dozer services to perform services. It was understood the bids received for Adams-Leleux ditches would have to be accepted to perform work on this ditch for the price indicated. On motion of Chris Sarver, seconded by Reece Guillot, motion to table. All in favor, motion passed.
The President called for a Bid Proposal on Guillot ditch. A bid was received from Dale Trahan Trackhoe and Dozer services to perform services for several drainage channels. The Board determined separate bids are needed for each project. On motion of Chris Sarver, seconded by Reece Guillot, motion to table. All in favor, motion passed.
First National Bank statement was received – no action required.
The President called on Mr. Aaron Broussard to make an appearance. Mr. Broussard was present at the meeting to discuss a washout along the drainage channel that abuts his driveway along west side of property. It was also determined that another pipe should be installed near northwest corner of site to replace the existing pipe that is damaged. Motion to approve made by Chris Sarver, seconded by Reece Guillot. All in favor, motion passed.
The Board was informed that an Ad Valorem check in the amount of $2,060.71 was received from the Acadia Parish Tax Collector.
There being no further business to come before the Board, on motion of Chris Sarver, seconded by Reece Guillot, the meeting was adjourned.
