The Vernon Parish Police Jury met for a committee meeting on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 5 p.m. in the Police Jury meeting room with the following members PRESENT: James B. Jim Tuck President, Marvin Hilton, Alton David Fox, Douglas Doug Roshong, Reginald Reggie Johnson, Scottie Benjamin, Malcolm Dean Mitchell, David Brister, Curtis L. Clay Vice President, Steven Quintin Thompson, and Kenny Haymon. The following members were ABSENT: Charnel Bailey.
The Vernon Parish Police Jury was convened as the governing authority of the Parish of Vernon, by Mr. James B. Tuck, President, and was then ready for the business on the agenda.
The invocation was given by Mr. Marvin Hilton and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Reginald Reggie Johnson.
Mr. Clarence Beebe, Mayor, Town of Hornbeck, was present at the meeting to ask the jury to consider providing part of the match needed for the extension of water in the Hornbeck area.
Dr. Shawn Granger, Vernon Parish Coroner, was present at the meeting to request an increase in the per call amount for Sharon Green by $50.00 per call.
Mr. Jonathan Hirsch, Vernon Parish Democratic Party, was present at the meeting to inquire if the jury had taken any action on the GRACE resolution he had brought to their attention. The President informed Mr. Hirsch that the jury would not be taking up the matter at this time.

The President asked if there was any public comment on any agenda items; there was none.
The President asked for committee reports to be presented by the committee Chairman.
Mr. Scottie Benjamin, Chairman, submitted the Equipment Committee report.
Mr. Curtis Clay, Chairman, submitted the Finance Committee report.
Mr. Scottie Benjamin, reporting for Mr. Charnel Bailey, Chairman, submitted the Permit & Claims Committee report.
Mr. Marvin Hilton, Chairman, submitted the Personnel Committee report.
Mr. Reggie Johnson, Chairman, submitted the Road Maintenance & Construction Committee report.
Having heard all committee reports, the President returned to the main agenda.
The jury discussed adopting memorial resolutions for the following community members: Mr. Elbert Stephens, Mrs. Emma Harrison, Mr. Dewitt Wagner.
The committee discussed authorizing payment of all invoices as authorized by the Finance Committee and authorize payment of all expenditures above the budgeted amount from Ward Maintenance and/or Construction accounts.
There being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Mr. Johnson, seconded by Mr. Clay and carried, to adjourn.
