MINUTES OF THE FACILITY NAMING COMMITTEE

DECEMBER 29, 2022

The City Council appointed a committee as per the request of the Mayor to name the Majors Baseball Field in Peltier Park after Alton Checkerboard Roundtree. The Facility Naming Committee of the City of Thibodaux assembled at City Hall, 310 West 2nd Street, Thibodaux, Louisiana, on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 10:00 A.M.

There were present: Kelly Maggio, Monique Crochet, Gretchen Bourgeois, and Rick Bouterie.

Absent: Wade Richard.

Mayor Eschete along with the Roundtree Family would like to have a baseball field named after the former Mayor.

Mr. Roundtrees dedication and influence to the youth in our City relative to baseball have helped to make the program what it is today.

The Committee conducted a brief discussion and asked questions with regard to the policies and guidelines.

On motion of Rick Bouterie, seconded by Kelly Maggio, the Committee voted on a motion to name the Majors Baseball Field in Peltier Park after the former Mayor Alton Roundtree. The official name will be the Alton Checkerboard Roundtree Field. Upon roll call the vote was as follows:

YEAS: Maggio, Crochet, Bourgeois and Bouterie

NAYS: None

ABSTAINED: None

ABSENT: Richard

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
