Town of Iota
The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Iota, Louisiana met in a regular session at 5:30 p.m. on March 8, 2022 at the regular meeting place of said Mayor and Board of Aldermen, City Hall, 116 Duson Avenue, Iota, Louisiana. Present were James Bertrand, Brandon Hebert, Warren Pousson and Seth Manuel. Absent was Alderman Jude Sittig. Also in attendance were Mr. Jonas Harrington with Mader Engineering, Inc. and members of the community.
Mayor Leckelt called the meeting to order, and Alderman Manuel led the Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.
A motion was offered by Alderman Pousson, seconded by Alderman Manuel and carried to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the February 8th council meeting and approve them as written and distributed to each Alderman.
A motion was offered by Alderman Bertrand, seconded by Alderman Hebert and carried to approve all invoices presented for payment and appropriate $16,265.01 from Sales Tax to Combined Utilities.
Mr. Jonas Harrington with Mader Engineering updated everyone in attendance on all pending projects.
A motion was offered by Alderman Bertrand, seconded by Alderman Hebert and carried to approve the following resolution:
MWPP RESOLUTION
WHEREAS: The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality has directed the
Town of Iota, Louisiana to perform a Municipal Water Pollution Prevention
(MWPP) audit on its Wastewater Treatment Facility located at 124 West St. Joseph Avenue in Iota, Louisiana and;
WHEREAS: The Town of Iota, Louisiana has prepared and reviewed the attached
MWPP audit and;
WHEREAS: The Town of Iota, Louisiana wishes to guard the public health and assure
discharge compliance;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the Town of Iota, Louisiana hereby informs the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) that it has set forth through the Mayor and Board of Aldermen the following actions necessary to attain and maintain permit discharge compliance contained in LPDES Permit Number 0040142:
1) The Town of Iota realizes the age of the plant and will increase its
preventative maintenance of the plant to promote the longevity of the
plant. mechanical devices which may have neared their expected life will
be rechecked and replaced/repaired as warranted.
This resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:

NAYS: None
ABSENT: Jude Sittig
And the resolution was declared adopted on this 8th day of March, 2022.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF IOTA, ACADIA PARISH, LOUISIANA, INTRODUCING A PROPOSED ORDINANCE AND CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING SAME.
WHEREAS, an ordinance has been proposed to be adopted by the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Iota; and
WHEREAS, the proposed ordinance must be introduced by its title; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing must be held prior to its adoption; and
WHEREAS, the title of the proposed ordinance must be published in the official journal and the notice shall provide the time and place where the Board will consider its adoption;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Iota, Acadia Parish, Louisiana, that the following ordinance be and it is hereby introduced for consideration and to hold a public hearing at the next regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, to-wit:

A motion was offered by Alderman Hebert, seconded by Alderman Bertrand and carried to approve the purchase of a computer from Dell Corp for $1,400.00.
A motion was offered by Alderman Pousson, seconded by Alderman Manuel and carried to approve the rules for Foret Park as presented.
The Police Department received 47 complaints, issued 39 tickets and made 10 arrests during the month of February.
A motion was offered by Alderman Pousson, seconded by Alderman Bertrand and carried to adjourn the meeting.
